Dear Reader Store customer:

As you know, our customers always come first, which is why we want to give you the news firsthand about an announcement made today from Sony regarding its plan to close Reader Store in the U.S. and Canada.

Although we're sorry to say goodbye to the Reader Store, we're also glad to share with you the new, exciting future for our readers: Reader Store will transfer customers to Toronto-based eReading company, Kobo—an admired eBook seller with a passionate reading community. We strongly believe that this transition will allow you to enjoy a continued high-quality e-reading experience. As a result of this change, we will close Reader Store in the U.S. and Canada on March 20, 2014 at 6 p.m. (EST).

So, what's next?

You don't have to do anything right now, and you'll be able to re-download your previously purchased eBooks for a limited time. In late March, you will receive a notification from us with a link that will allow you to transfer your library to Kobo. Whether you are new to Kobo or already have an account, you'll be able to transfer your Reader Store eBooks to your Kobo account so you'll continue to have access to them in the future. Plus, any existing Reader Store credits you might still have in your account will transfer to your Kobo account to use at the Kobo Store. And of course, you can continue to use your Sony Reader to read eBooks from Kobo.

We are fully committed to helping you through this exciting transition to Kobo. With the Kobo Store, you'll have access to more than 4 million of the world's best books, magazines, comics and kids' titles, all at your fingertips.

We want to thank you for being such loyal customers, a part of our reading family, and for your continued support as we work to complete this transition. It has been a pleasure reading with you!

The User Guide, sample books or menu of the Reader™ Wi-Fi® is in a different language.
Solution

The language of the User Guide, sample books and menu are set during the inital setup process of your Reader Wi-Fi. If the language is changed to a different language after the initial setup, only the menu would change to the new language. To change all of these to a different language, you will need to run the initial setup process again. Follow these steps to do a Factory Initialize (Hard reset) and set the appropriate language:

  1. With the Reader Wi-Fi on, on the bottom of the device, press and hold the power button until the Device Shutdown screen appears.
  2. In the Device Shutdown screen, press Yes .
  3. Press the power button again to turn the Reader Wi-Fi back on.
  4. While the screen displays opening book..... , simultaneously press and hold down the Next and Back buttons.

  5. Allow the Home screen to fully load (Loading... should no longer flash in the top left corner of your screen) and then

    do the following button sequence while still holding down the Next and Back buttons:
  6. Release - Press - Release the Back button only and then Release the Next button.
  7. In the Would you like to execute Factory Initialize screen, press Yes .
  8. Press the power button again to turn on the Reader Wi-Fi. The Reader Wi-Fi will be set to factory settings.
  9. Turn the Reader Wi-Fi back on. The initial setup process will begin.

    NOTE: This procedure assumes you want English as the language. These steps can be done for any language.

  10. In the Menu Language screen, select English .

  11. Your reader will now be set for English. Follow the rest of the on screen steps to complete the setup.

Emprunter un livre numérique d'une bibliothèque

 

Depuis au moins le le 20 décembre 2011, la Bibliothèque Nationale du Québec prête des livres numériques qu'on peut lire sur une liseuse.

Au départ il faut avoir une carte de membre de la Bibliothèque nationale du Québec. Aller à http://www.banq.qc.ca/, choisir à gauche Abonnement et suivre les instructions pour un Abonnement à l'ensemble des services.

Une fois qu'on a notre carte de membre on peut aller sur le site de la BNQ pour emprunter un livre numérique.
Aller à http://www.banq.qc.ca/ choisir l'onglet Ressources en ligne, Sous rubrique Revues, journaux et bases de données choisir Livres, puis Prêt numérique
Ou encore directement sur t http://www.banq.qc.ca/ressources_en_ligne/livres-numeriques/index.html
Faire un choix, disons Romans: Prêt numérique.



1. Une fois que notre choix est fait, on emprunte un livre
2. On reçoit un courriel de la BNQ qui contient un lien vers un fichier (Voir un exemple de ce courriel)
3. On clique sur ce lien et de là on nous offre un fichier qu'on enregistre sur notre ordinateur. Ce fichier porte toujours le nom URLLink.acsm.

4. On peut changer le nom (pas l'extension) de ce fichier pour ne pas le confondre avec d'autre. Par exemple, le renommer, Histoire de l'Acadie.acsm

5. Avec Reader for PC, je fais - Fichier -Importer des fichiers et je sélectionne mon fichier Histoire de l'Acadie.acsm
6. Dans Reader for PC, sous l'onglet Livre (mettre dans le format détail, icone au bas à droite) je peux le voir dans mes livres, Histoire de l'Acadie avec ACSM dans la colonne Type et dans la colonne État, c'est marqué Double-cliquez pour télécharger. Je clique sur ce Double-cliquez et il télécharge le fichier dans mon logiciel Reader for PC, en indiquant le type, PDF ou EPUB et dans la colonne Date d'expiration 10/01/2012
7. Je peux maintenant lire mon livre sur mon ordinateur
8. Pour le lire sur ma liseuse, je la branche à l'ordi en mode transfert de données, je démarre le Sony Reader for PC, il fait la synchronisation des deux applications. Mon livre est rendu sur la liseuse.

Le 20 décembre 2011, Maxime Johnson a publié un tutoriel sur la façon d'emprunter un livre de la Bibliothèque Nationale. À consulter pour plus de détails.
Le logiciel Reader for PC a l'option qui permet de mettre fin à un abonnement. Ceci efface le livre sur la liseuse mais n'avise pas la bibliothèque que vous avez fini avec le livre pour qu'elle puisse le prêter à une autre personne.
